Brookline Taiwanese Chamber Foundation Boston Marathon Taiwan Runners Welcome Reception Recap
Every April, the Boston Marathon is more than one of the world’s most iconic races. For many runners from Taiwan, it is a dream stage, a personal milestone, and a meaningful opportunity to bring Taiwan’s presence into one of the most celebrated international sporting events in the United States.
As Taiwanese runners, families, and supporters traveled across the world to Boston, they arrived not only to challenge themselves, but also to represent the resilience, dedication, and spirit of Taiwan. Their journey reminded us that a marathon is never only about distance; it is also about courage, community, and the people who stand behind each runner.
To welcome runners, families, and friends from Taiwan, Brookline Taiwanese Chamber Foundation hosted the Boston Marathon Taiwan Runners Welcome Reception. This gathering was not simply a meal or a social event. It was a message of support and blessing from the Greater Boston Taiwanese community to those who came from far away to take on this historic race.
For many visiting athletes, participating in the Boston Marathon is both a physical challenge and an emotional journey through an unfamiliar city. BTCF hoped that through this reception, every Taiwanese runner could feel that even away from home, there is a community here in Boston cheering for them, proud of them, and ready to be a warm source of support.
This spirit reflects one of the core reasons BTCF was founded. The foundation hopes to bring together not only Taiwanese people who live in Boston long term, but also those who come here temporarily, those who are pursuing dreams, and those who are carrying Taiwan’s name into new places and new stages.
Whether someone is a runner, a student, a professional, a family member, or a visitor from another region, BTCF believes that whenever people are brought together by Taiwan, we have an opportunity to create a space of connection, encouragement, and mutual support.
During the reception, guests shared race experiences, travel stories, and words of encouragement for runners preparing to stand at the starting line. These moments turned the Boston Marathon from an individual athletic challenge into a shared community experience and a collective moment of pride for Taiwanese people in Boston.
We believe the strength of a community often comes from simple but sincere actions: a word of encouragement, a welcome gathering, a shared meal, and a group of people willing to show up. These gestures help visitors from Taiwan know that they are not alone.
Through the Boston Marathon Taiwan Runners Welcome Reception, BTCF hoped to share a clear message: Taiwanese people in Boston are not only working hard individually; we are also willing to support one another, celebrate one another’s achievements, and take pride in the ways Taiwan is represented on the world stage.
This event also reflected BTCF’s commitment to cultural exchange and community connection. The Boston Marathon is an international stage, and the participation of Taiwanese runners allows more people to see the perseverance, passion, and determination of Taiwan. BTCF was honored to serve as a connector and supporter during this meaningful moment.
As Taiwanese stories continue to be seen in Boston, we also hope that visitors from Taiwan can feel the warmth of the overseas Taiwanese community. A city can feel unfamiliar at first, but community can turn that unfamiliarity into belonging.
Looking ahead, Brookline Taiwanese Chamber Foundation will continue supporting events that bring Taiwanese people together, connect Taiwan with Boston, and show the spirit of Taiwan through meaningful action. Through every gathering, we hope to build a Taiwanese community that is stronger, warmer, and more supportive of one another.
Cheering for Taiwanese runners is an act of support. Helping visitors feel welcome is an act of connection. Bringing Taiwanese stories into Boston is part of BTCF’s ongoing mission.
The Boston Marathon is a challenge for the runners, but it is also a shared pride for the Taiwanese community. BTCF was honored to witness this journey with everyone and to cheer for every runner who carried the spirit of Taiwan forward.
Together, we support.
Together, we celebrate Taiwan.
